Fiola is a fine dining Italian restaurant in Washington, DC, and the flagship of its restaurant group. Techcelerant designed and built its website at fioladc.com. The site presents the restaurant with the same care as its plates: a refined layout, a photo gallery of the dishes and rooms, private dining pages, catering information and a reservation system that is always one click away.

The client

Fiola serves modern Italian cooking with farm-fresh ingredients in an elegant dining room. Its guests include business diners, visitors to the city and couples planning a special night. They expect the website to match the experience they will have at the table. The restaurant also hosts private dinners and offers catering.

The problem

Fine dining guests decide with their eyes. Before they book, they want to see the room, the plates and the drinks, and they want reassurance that the evening will be worth it. A plain menu page would not do that.

The restaurant also had more to sell than tables. Private rooms, events and catering each needed a clear page. The client's team wanted a site where every page felt calm and polished and still led guests to a booking or an inquiry.

What we built

We built a restaurant website organized around reservations, rooms and food.

  • A slim top bar with a reservation link, a centered script logo and a simple navigation menu with links to reservations, private dining, menus, events and contact.
  • A short welcome paragraph under the logo that introduces the restaurant and its focus on exceptional, farm-fresh ingredients.
  • A homepage photo mosaic of the dining room, a guest arriving at the entrance, cocktails, award notes, plated courses and the team in the kitchen, with short captions such as "savor every sip."
  • A private dining page that shows each room with a large photo, room name and a button to inquire, including a room lined with bold artwork.
  • A catering page headed "Bringing World-Class Culinary Experiences to You," with photos of plated courses ready to serve.
  • An integrated reservation system linked from the header and key sections.

Design decisions

We kept the design spare. White backgrounds, thin rules and a small amount of deep burgundy for the top bar and accents. Fine dining guests read restraint as confidence, and a bare frame lets the food photography carry the page.

The logo is a flowing script, so we paired it with a classic serif for headings and body text. Small, spaced capitals mark section labels. The type feels formal and easy to read on a phone.

The homepage mosaic shows the full evening: arrival, drinks, plates and the kitchen. Tiles vary in size so the grid feels like a gallery wall instead of a product listing. Captions stay short because the photos explain themselves.

Private dining and catering each have their own page with one main photo and one clear inquiry button. Guests planning an event can see the room they would book before they write. Our article on mobile-first design explains why we test layouts like these on phones first, where many reservations start.

The result

Fiola now has a website that matches the experience of dining there. Guests can see the rooms and the food, read about the restaurant, choose a private dining space, learn about catering and reserve a table from any page. The reservation link and inquiry buttons sit where a guest naturally looks for them.

The client's team can update menus, add photos and change the featured dishes for each season from the editor.
